Why resize an image?

Resizing means changing an image’s dimensions, that is, its number of pixels in width and height. It is essential to fit photos to the sizes required by social networks, online stores or official forms, and to avoid uploading huge images that slow down your website.

The tool uses progressive high-quality resampling that avoids the jagged edges and blur typical of other resizers. You can set an exact size, fit images inside a maximum width and height while keeping the aspect ratio, or scale them to a percentage of their original size.

Frequently asked questions

Will the image be distorted when resized?

No, as long as “Keep aspect ratio” is enabled. The image is then fitted inside the given width and height without stretching.

What size should I use for social media?

As a guide: 1080 × 1080 px for square Instagram posts, 1080 × 1920 px for stories and 1200 × 630 px for Facebook or X link previews.

Can I enlarge a small image?

Yes, although enlarging does not add detail. For better results when increasing size, use our “Upscale image” tool, which applies sharpening.

Does the file size also shrink?

Yes. Fewer pixels means a smaller file. To reduce it further, run it through “Compress image” afterwards.
